Secret Item Wall

Project Details

In our core map, Super Red vs Blue, we set out to give our community more ways to express their playstyle, while also attracting new players who had never tried our game before. We introduced a Secret Item Wall that featured custom weapons and items that required players to visit our social channels and find the accompanying videos for the item they wanted to unlock. 

This system created a powerful loop: existing players stayed engaged while subscribing to our social channels for new secrets, and new players, drawn in by their curiosity of the secret items, jumped in the map to play for the first time.

The campaign proved to be a major success, featuring three unique animations and over 60 short-form videos that collectively earned more than 8.6 million views. As a result, our subscriber count grew by 25%, and map retention rose by 5% within the first two weeks.

I handled the end-to-end creation of the social videos, as well as the creative, shot-lists, and direction of the animations. Markus Westbye was the animator without whom none of this would have been possible.
